Giant leap – Buying a new house

I still feel like dreaming. Many say that buying a house might be the most expensive buy that you’ll do in your life, and I basically done that at last. I was walking around one of the shopping mall to survey about buying a new fridge (there will be a seperate blog about this), where suddenly I saw a booth selling new house. Casa Idaman Condominium – the name kinda sounds really fancy to me.

As always, one thing that people consider about buying a new house is location. This is where this project will be,

and this is the artist impression on how it will look like upon completion.

But don’t take map, photo and agent’s words for granted. It’s better to visit the site myself so that I will have a better sight on things that I will buy. So went to the showroom after that.

And here I am, in the show unit of type B. I kinda like the layout.

There has already been a ground breaking ceremony yesterday,

and work will be under progress too. So this is the area.

The offer that they made is also quite interesting to me.

  • 5% discount for bumiputera
  • Early bird discount of RM12,892
  • Special rebate of RM8,000
  • Free 2 car parks

Finally, it’s the historical moment of my life where I book one unit for myself with the booking payment of RM1000.

I book the type A one, facing KLCC with the price of RM271,400. It is indeed the most expensive purchase that I ever attempted.

So I guess what I have to do now is just to wait for the loan to be approved, and after that will arrange the EPF withdrawal for down payment.

Like always, I like to research of things that I would like to buy. Visiting property forum seems to be a good option, since I can always reject this and get 70% refund of my booking fee.

I’m glad to see that most views are the positive one, to the fact that a new KTM komuter station is under construction very near to this condo, as well as YTL has bought vacant land around this condo to be developed as well. Sounds like this place a good investment.

Random thoughts

7 years being at my current workplace, for the very first time, I’m feeling so suffocated on how messy things have become now. Seriously, I used to love and enjoy doing my job before, but now it’s a rather spaghetti of mess that I’ve drowned into. How things have turned to be so politic, and everybody just trying to save their own ass. Day after day, I really feel that all of us getting farther from each other. I’m now part of this ugly beast, that really making me just to run away. Someone told me that this is the time that I have to play a little game, but playing game is never being one of thing that I’m good at. Not clear of what I’m trying to say? Well, that’s the purpose. This is RANDOM thoughts anyway, where it suppose not to make any sense.

This is really a good news for Maxis Broadband user like me, and even more good news for the future user of Maxis Broadband. Now Maxis BB is with no minimum contract period.

Can I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service anytime after the cooling-off period?
Yes, you may discontinue the service anytime after the cooling-off period. A handling fee of RM200 will apply upon discontinuation of the service. If you have used the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service for more than twelve (12) months, the handling fee of RM200 will be waived.

Will I be charged a penalty for the remaining months of my existing service contract when I discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service?
No. The minimum 18-month contract period no longer applies. A handling fee of RM200 will apply if you discontinue the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service within twelve (12) months from the date of registration. If you have used the Maxis Wireless Broadband Service for more than twelve (12) months, the handling fee of RM200 will be waived.

Under the previous condition, you will be charged for the unused months of the 18 months period if you decided to terminate the account. But under this new contract, you just need to pay the handling fee of RM200. That sounds really like a good deal compared to the previous one.

ASAT on labor day

It’s a labor day today, and it’s a public holiday. I’m taking Friday off as well. So, it’s quite a long break for me them. So, what I really do today? You won’t believe it. It’s not really like my normal holiday which I just at home. This time, I’m at Hillcity Hotel & Condo in Ipoh.

I’m here for this Program Anugerah Seri Asrama Terbilang (ASAT) 2008.

So, what is ASAT? Below is the excerpt that I get from the program leaflet.

And why I’m here? My housemate is the jury of the solo singing competition of “Irama Malaysia”, and I just elect myself to be the unofficial photographer of the event.

I’m quite impress with the effort put up by 7 boarding school from Kuala Lumpur to make this event a sucess. I guess, the recognition that is made to the winner is that all of these schools wanted since it is something to be proud of. Here are some of the photos that I took tonight.

And the jury for tonight:

It’s the end of day 1, and 3 more days to go. Tomorrow there will be pidato competiton, chess competition, cultural dance competition and football, netball and volley ball competition.
