Eight more days, and we will be leaving 2008. But it seems that 2008 doesn’t want to leave me that easy. Been really busy these few weeks with so many things that I need to settle before I stepping into the new year.

The 2008 Performance Management Process (PMP) was due on 17th December, and this is also the time where project volumes reaching it’s peak. I have to finish up my own PMP, as well as doing the PMP to 3 of my staffs. Overall, my PMP went well. I’m excel in certain areas, but tend to neglect other certains area. Well, I’m just a human being which cannot run away from imperfection.

The Dimensions Level II Certification Test, that I owe to all of the 10 programmers for 3 weeks already needs to be done pretty soon. So on I fine Saturday, all of the programmers are forced to come to office to take this test. All of them are very serious taking this test.

And what’s next, marking their test. Got to finish this before the new year. That sounds like a lot of work to do. LOL.

But I guess the thing that worries me so is Wendy leaving Malaysia for good back to Guangzhou, and then to Australia next year. To talk about Wendy needs an entry of its own.

I first met her back in March, as an effort to set up a preferred partner team there. Well I have to say the team there matured very fast and pretty well, where we need her help to help our team here in Malaysia. I’ve been wearing so many caps for so long, which has to stop, concentrating on the technical development area, which leave the team here yearning for support. That’s where Wendy came for help.

Well, someone has a brilliant idea by throwing a farewell party to her, together with 2 other members which resigning very soon. Even though not everyone can turn up due to work, but things that always impress me is that the gathering of my team members is always a happening one.

Cheers. All the best to Wendy, Arif and Amir, and all the best to all of us as well.

Ladies! No fighting please. We are having so much fun here and I don’t want to see blood spilling over the table.

And due to that incident, all knives and forks are kept well guarded from Zuhaida and Elina. LOL

Today, when reaching office, I saw this Christmas present from Wendy to me.

Once home, I unwrap the parcel,

and inside is this amazing cube that can use used as clock, calendar, alarm and themometer.

Thanks Wendy. And it’s rather shame that I don’t have anything to give her back. Today is just too hectic, with me being on MC yesterday. Today, I spend most of the time attending lots of emails that are claiming a piece of my soul.

I know a few of my team will read this entry. I hope you all not to worry of Wendy leaving. With her good guidance all this while, we have numbers and figures that show how much the team here has improved from the first time that we start. It is just a little bit more, and we will have a mature team. Keep up the good work!

I have nothing in mind to buy actually, but since I’m bored to death at home yesterday, just decided to pay a visit to PC Fair today. LRT seems to be the best option for commuting.

It’s nice to have many exhibitors gathering together at the same place where we have more options for comparing price, but in reality, it’s hard to do so. The place is jammed pack with thousands of people, and it’s really hard to move around and to walk fast. I spent almost 5 hours in the halls browsing through things that interest me. Not to mention, there’s so many funny smells as well for people there. I’m kinda suffocated. Feels like there’s no ventilation at all.

Well, due this is the end of the year PC Fair, I cannot expect that there will be something new to see. People rather wait for 2009 to introduce new products. In spite not having anything in mind for things to buy on my way there, I happened to spend RM405 blindly.

Sigh. Back to work after 5 days of rest (2 days of weekend, 1 day of public holiday and 2 days of annual leave). Waking up for work this morning is one of the hardest thing to do.

Arrived at office, and download all the email. My goodness. 421 emails to read. I guess I’ll be spending the whole of this morning for this.

The Dimensions team leader came to see my as early as 8:45am to report about missing cases from the POD15 server. Sigh again. This is priority then for me to look at this morning. What a not nice thing to happen on the day of my return to office.

Nepeta is a genus of about 250 species of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae. The members of this group are known as catnip or catmint because of their famed effect on cats—nepeta pleasantly stimulates cats’ pheromonic receptors, typically resulting in the animal temporarily exhibiting behaviors indicative of being in an induced, euphorically giddy sort of state. The flowers are tubular and spotted with tiny purple dots. The scent of the plant has a stimulating effect on cats.

Well, I manage to find the dried catnip sold at the pet section of Jusco. I’ve been hearing about catnip for so long already, and rather want to find out myself of what is claimed is true or not.

This is how it looks like. It does have some sort of nice smell if you try to smell it yourself.

Catnip and catmints are mainly known for the behavioral effects they have on cats, particularly domestic cats. When cats sense the bruised leaves or stems of catnip, they may roll over it, paw at it, chew it, lick it, leap about and purr, often salivating copiously. Some cats will also growl and meow. This reaction only lasts for about ten minutes before the cat loses interest. It takes up to two hours for the cat to “reset” after which it can come back to the catnip and have the same response as before. Young kittens and older cats are less likely to react to catnip. Approximately two thirds of cats are susceptible to the behavioral effects of catnip.

So it really means that, it’s experiment time again. I’m so excited. First, I rub catnip in between my hands to release the oil, and I sprinkle on the floor like so.

Then I release the subject. As always, it will be Oyen. Yeap. Oyen starts sniffing it, pawing on it and even licking it.

But, will he roll over it as claimed?

Oh my! It’s so true. Oyen starts rolling on it over and over again. So I guess it’s not fair for Oyen alone to share the fun. Ebot joins after that.
