Two moons in the sky

27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August. It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles off earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like the earth has 2 moons.

The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Share this with your friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again.

PS: This turned out to be just another hoax. LOL

Breaking Free From Credit Cards

It’s rather startling, below are the number of credit cards that I owned so far. Not a complete set as 2 cards that I closed before, I have to return it back to the bank.

This is the very first credit card that I own. Yes. November 2001. The second month after I have been confirmed with my first job. I feel like adult that time, getting my very first credit card to use, not knowing the trap I’m heading to.

I pretty much able to close my other credit card, but the Citibank one is very hard to escape. They’ll do everything to keep. It’s all started with a single Citibank Clear credit card with the credit limit of RM3000. If you use this card to the max, 5% x RM3000 = RM150 – that’s what you expect to play monthly. Without me knowing, my credit limit is suddenly increased to RM5000 after a year. Young at heart, my spending on the credit card is always towards the card’s limit.

Then out of the blue, I got a call from Citibank salesperson, offering my Air Asia Credit Card. The soul of man is easily influenced, and I accepted the offer. I got RM4000 credit limit on this card, making the total credit limit from the both cards is RM9000 now. Month after month, and year after year, I got a Gold Citibank credit card in the mailbox. To activate the card (with the credit limit of RM10,000), I just need to call a single phone number.

I won’t fall for this again, and I just ignore the card. And guess what happened after that. With me knowing, the credit limit that I got from my clear credit card and Air Asia credit card is combined, and they raise the combined credit limit again. It’s like I accept the offer of gold credit card earlier. If I don’t do something, I will be trapped in this forever.

And finally, I have cleared out all the outstanding balance for my Citibank credit cards, and it’s just the time to call the customer service and terminate those before I start spending again on it.

During the call, I’ve been told that the card closing can be done by Citibank officer, of which the person will call me in 2 to 3 days time. But expect to receive a call from someone that is very good at persuading you to keep the card.

I’ve never feel privilege in the years that I’m using this card. The collection department will call and nag you every time you are late for the payment. And despite the nagging, RM25 late fee will be charge in the next bill cycle. But once you tell them that you want to close the card, suddenly, all sorts of good things come.

The officer told me that my card is free until November 2011. Since when that my card is free. I have to pay annual fee every single year. And the office also tell me, I’m eligible for cash reward. If I keep this card for 1 more month, I will get RM50 cash reward. Since I have 3 cards, that’s RM150. Hah. They are very good at this. But enough is enough. I still firm with my decision to close the card, even the officer is some sort of forcing you to stay. And for once in so many years, I have an ease of mind.

Ear Blockage

It’s the second day already that I’m working from home. The flu that I had last week seemed not leaving me easily. Nose and ears are somehow connected, and I have a minor ear infection from the flu that I had. Nothing serious about that, only excess ear wax is produced until a point where it totally blocked my left ear. The result – I can hear clearly with with my right ear, but not hearing anything from left ear – and I get dizzy easily.

Went to the doctor, and she prescribed me Waxsol. I also bought this over the counter ear wax removal. And believe me that I’ve been pouring this into my ears for a half bottle already over the period of 3 days already.

But it may take a week before it showing any sign – the blockage or plugged feeling in the ear subside. I guess I have to be patient – and there goes my weekend.

Internet Blues

With the launch of UniFi (RM149 for 5 Mbps package), it looks ridiculous that Streamyx 4 Mbps is priced at RM160 (current promo). Lower speed but more expensive? Read in The Star today the price of the current Streamyx package remains the same, except for Streamyx 4 Mbps – the price is reduced to RM140. So went to TMPoint Menara Telekom today to do enquiry.

I went there, and ask the salesgirl about the price of Streamyx 4 Mbps, she mentioned RM160. Then I told her I read in the newspaper that it is reduced to RM140? She didn’t answer my question. LOL

As I mentioned in my previous entry, I’m currently under Celcom’s Hop, Home Away package.

This package combines Streamyx 1 Mbps with Celcom 3G Broadband Basic for RM108 monthly. Plus RM30 phone line rental, this will be RM138 monthly. Compare that to RM140 for Streamyx 4 Mbps (including phone line rental). It looks like it is time for me to upgrade

This is where something ugly emerges, and things got really complicated. You see, when I apply for Celcom’s Home, Hop Away last time, my Streamyx account is no longer under TM, and now the service is managed by Celcom. So if I want to terminate my 3G Broadband package, my Streamyx account will be terminated too. In other words, if I want to apply for Streamyx 4 Mbps, I need to terminate my current Streamyx account, and apply a new one.

Wah! That sounds complicated. And with my new house expected to finish end of this year, there will be another headache again of transferring this new Streamyx account to a new place, which I can’t temporary terminate since I’m still under minimum contact period. I guess I have to stick to whatever I have for now. Sigh!

2009 Income Tax return

My HR Manager pass me the pay slip of this month salary together with the EA Form. First thing that came to my mind – oh not. It’s that time again. The same thing that I always say year after year, this is the time that you will see your hard-earned money has to be given back to government.

Well, decided to be a good citizen this time, I’m going to file my Income Tax return early this year, just to beat the traffic. Believe me, the LHDN’s e-Filing website can be really congested when the deadline for the form return is nearer.

But before I can do so, let’s dig all the expenses that entitled for tax relief from last year. Ahh. That’s my 2009 Bills file.

I do have a section for Tax in my file, just to keep all the receipts of transaction that I can use to for deduction claim later on. Believe me. If you don’t file it this way, it’s very hard to find all the receipts that you spend for 1 whole year if you tried to consolidate it during the last minute.

I have all the receipts for my magazines and books purchase,

and do you know that puchase of personal computer for individual can be exempted from income tax every 3 years? I happened to buy one last year, and kept the invoice for this too.

I’m ready now to start filing my income tax form. The website to visit is https://e.hasil.gov.my/. Since I use this in the past, I have my account here already. If you are using this for the first time, you will need to obtain PIN number for the digital certificate registration. I believe the PIN number will be printed on the hardcopy of BE Form that is mailed to you.

Now you need to choose which form that you want to use. Since I don’t have business income, and I’m resident. I will need to use e-BE form.

And then I login using my NRIC number and password that I have set up.

Once you logged in, the very first thing that you need to do is to provide your individual particulars. Some of the fields should already be auto-filled for you. Noticed the Bank Account No field?

When this field was first added to the income form tax, there was a representative from LHDN that came to my office to give briefing on the new form. Someone did ask why that Bank Account No field is there. Well, the answer is, if you have tax paid in excess, it will be reimbursed into your saving account. Well, not quite. It’s been so many years already, and they still send cheque for tax pain in excess that takes several months before you receive it.

Anyhow, once you finished with your individual particular, the next part is where you will declare all of your income. Well, my only income is from the from the salary that I got from my job. Sad isn’t it. The amount to be filled in at Penggajian field is to be taken from the amount showed in the EA form that I received.

When I list out all of my income, the total my income will be displayed at JUMLAH PENDAPATAN (SENDIRI) field. Then, I need to fill in the tax deduction for my salary that I have paid. This is again is shown in the EA form.

In the next part, I need to declare any past income that haven’t been declared before. Turned out that the special management bonus that I received in 2008 hasn’t been declared before. So I have to put here. And the tax deduction has been paid for this, but there’s such field here to put that information. I kinda wondering how they will treat this. Hhhmm..

The next part is the most important. Here is where you need to list out all the deduction claim that you want to make, and you have to understand each single item, so that you can do the necessary tax exemption if you are eligible. In other words, if you spend your salary for things that is entitled for tax relief, you don’t have to pay tax for those money that you spend.

This part is always the same to me each and every year. Remember the receipt digging that I did at the earlier of this blog? I just put the amount that I spend on books and magazines, and this time, I also bought a new computer for myself.

There’s something new here too – Faedah pinjaman perumahan. Well, I just bought house recently. But there’s something fishy about (mesti memenuhi syarat-syarat kelayakan) clause. I wonder what the conditions will be.

And this is something that I found from Buku Panduan BE 2009.

Darn. I guess I’m not eligible for this as I signed the SPA sometimes in November 2008.

Child Deductions are something that is never applicable for me (LOL). And the last item for my deduction claim will be Insurans nyawa dan KWSP. “Caruman KWSP” is something that can be found from EA form also, and mine one always exceed RM6000 every year, therefore I can only claim to the max of RM6000.

The next part is the last part that you can further do claim/deduction/relief. The only item that is applicable for me is Zakat atau fitrah. This is already some form of deduction that is done to your income, therefore, it should be exluded from the calculation of your income tax.

Once you’ve done with declaring your income, and listing out the deduction that can be made, the next page will show you the summary of all of these. Taking out total relief from the total income, you will get the amount of income that is chargeable for the tax. There’s this table of the chargeable income range of the rate of the tax that will be charged.

Well, if you are using e-Filing, you don’t have to worry about the calculation as this is done automatically. From this, you will get the total of income tax that you need to pay, based on your income. Further tax rebate that you declare will be deducted from your total income tax, and the CUKAI KENA DIBAYAR is the amount that you have to pay.

If the tax is already deducted from your salary via PCB (Potongan Cukai Berjadual), the amount will be deducted from the tax payable. And the outcome of this is whether you have BAKI CUKAI KENA DIBAYAR (balance of tax payable) or CUKAI TERLEBIH BAYAR (tax paid in excess).

Hello there. I have tax pain in excess for this year
