I’m talking about the war of providing 3G broadband by telcos in Malaysia.

I used to pay RM138 monthly for my 3G broadband last time, where I bound to 18 months contract, and RM350 penalty of breaching the contract.

Now 3G broadband seems to be so competitive, which makes me want to get 3G broadband as my secondary internet source whenever I’m on the move. I use Celcom prepaid 3G broadband before. It looks like a good thing at a start where you don’t have to worry about monthly fees, but in the long run, you have to keep the SIM card active by topping up, or the SIM card is terminated. And also, the SIM card that I use for prepaid 3G internet has been terminated already because I didn’t reload any credit to it for 2 months.

So, I’m looking something that is very basic, since I usually just doing internet surfing while on the move, and I also want to have 3G modem providing the one that I have is too big and ugly and is not considered cool anymore (more about my bulky 3G modem in this blog entry). Below is the current offer of the most basic 3G broadband package

The Maxis package does catch my eye more, just because that the speed is uncapped. Even though I have to pay RM100 for the modem, but I do think that I will be using the 3G internet more than 6 months, so I can opt for 6 months contract and get the free modem.

More about other packages that Celcom and Maxis has to offer from the leaflets that I scan below.

So I pay a visit to Maxis Center at Gardens during lunch hour break today, and getting myself Maxis Broadband again.

I just love the USB stick modem. Quite small to be carried anywhere. I’m getting the E1552 modem instead, with the max speed of 3.6Mbps. There’s also E1762 model with the max speed of 7.2Mbpps, but I don’t think that I need that much speed even Maxis does provide that speed in certain area of Klang Valley.

This is the new modem compared to my old E220 modem (minus the USB cable which is the reason why this modem is no longer cool. LOL).

And also, using this modem on my newly bought D-Link DIR-412 Mobile Wireless Router looks so cool now. The black and white combination does look good.

These are actually the things that are causing that RM200 damage to me. My shopping list for today.

The first thing that I got is DVD ring file. I just want to reorganize my DVD rack by moving out all the DVD from the box cover, and place them in this file. I should make a lot of space saving. Furthermore, it’s blu-ray era now, and I just to start collecting blu-ray discs now.

That brings me to the second thing that I purchase today – 50 blank blu-ray cases.

My Xbox 360 games collection are growing, and now the cover sleeves are coming in blu-ray case size. Will look good on my rack later what I have this arranged together with the blu-ray movies that I have.

My “cuti raya” is around the corner. This HSPDA USB Modem has been a savior for me so many times already for my internet need whenever I’m away from home.

But plugging this to the laptop does restrict the wireless freedom a bit, with this modem hanging down whenever I place my laptop on the lap. Furthermore, I can’t share the internet connection that I got.

I guess this is the highlight of my trip to Low Yat Plaza today, buying this quite cheap, RM115 D-Link DIR-412 Mobile Wireless Router. This one supports 3G network. There’s a 3.5G model, but the price is RM324 more. And that’s RM439!! Phew. But the prepaid 3G broadband that I use is not even 3.5G and I think it’s not necessary to get the 3.5G model one.

And the unboxing process as usual. You can find the power adaptor, the router itself, network cable, manual and CD-ROM inside.

This is the router itself out of the wrapping plastic. It’s quite small I can easily carry this over everywhere and set up internet sharing with my friends at anytime anywhere.

The back of the router is very minimal. There’s a hard switch there of either you want to use WAN or 3G. This unit can also act as a normal router by connecting it to the normal ADSL or cable modem, and set the switch to WAN. In case the WAN is not available, 3G will act as auto WAN-fallover.

If the switch is set to 3G, the LAN port can be used to connect to the computer using LAN cable in case wireless adaptor is not available on the laptop or PC.

This is how the setup will look like. Not at it’s best look, but this will do for the time being for my internet needs when I’m back to my hometown in a 2 weeks time.

I’m so considering of getting this D-Link DWM-152 3.5G HSDPA USB Adapter which is a black stick 3G modem, but I just don’t want to spend another RM102 just yet.

Until then, INTEKMA is a must visit venue for every for buffet fast breaking almost every single year.

Today on the 2nd day of Ramadhan marks the first day of Ramadhan Buffet of INTEKMA for the year 2010. And I feel honored again this time as Emilia Basri has invited me again to INTEKMA for free Ramadhan buffet Iftar. Representative from Tourism Malaysia, press and bloggers are also invited.

The theme for this year is “Kembali Ke Desa, Menjalin 1Malaysia”. The price is RM43 nett for adult, but there is a special price of RM35 per person that you can get if you go there between 12th to 17th August 2010. Even for the full price of RM43, this is still a good bargain. Just check my entry of Ramadhan buffet for this year. It’s hard to find buffet that is priced at RM40ish.

The venue is the same as last time, the relaxing and beautiful Poolside Cafe.

I’ve been placed at the Press table. Well. There’s quite a hilarious event took place here. While I was away taking photos, the representative from Berita Harian asked my friend a question “Dari Mana? (Where from?)”. Then my friend replied “Dari Sentul (From Sentul)”. Then that guy gave my friend a weird look. Then someone else replied, “We are not from anywhere. We are bloggers”. So that guy means is, from which press that we are from. LOL.

Not let’s go to the more interesting part – the foods. Lets start of with the “kuih-muih”. There are variety that you can choose from.

And the one that caught me is this chocolate icing cake. I bet this will be gone in no time.

Also, there are 14 lines up of crackers biscuits that you can eat while relaxing after the big meal of fast breaking.

Western salads and tradition “ulam kampung” are also available to boost your appetite.

And the highlight should go to the buffet lineup that you can choose from. There are 10 lines up that you can choose – chicken, squid, lamb, mutton, veggie – that should covers everything.

Grilled lamb is a must get. Too bad that I don’t fancy mutton that much. There’s also “sup ekor asam pedas” and “nasi lemak ayam berempah”.

The “kuih muih” that I had for fast breaking today.

Thanks again to Emilia Basri for the invitation, and for the goodies bag. Looking forward to be there again.

If I get lucky, the DJ will say the singer and the name of the song at the end, and if not, I left with quickly jotting down some of the phrases of the song, and google it later.

I know that AMP Radio Networks do publish the current song that is playing on their radio websites, but these websites are too heavy for the mobile (which I’m on iPhone) and sometimes, the website didn’t even render at all. And if it does, I have to navigating from one website to another depending of which AMP radio channel that I’m listening to.

I need something that is fast and light for the mobile device, and something that marshals everything at one place. So introducing, Now Playing! web app. To get to Now Playing!, just visit the following URL in Safari browser of your iPhone. Don’t own an iPhone? No worries. You can visit this URL on almost every desktop browser, Safari or Chrome. The rendering on Internet Explorer and Firefox is not that good though.

Now Playing! queries all the playing songs from the websites, and show them in one place, and you will know what is playing on the other channels as well which you can switch to that channel if you see something that you like is playing.

Do check out the About page also, although what you will read there is basically the same thing as what I write here ;)

It would nice if there’s an app for this. Well, this website is web app enabled on iPhone. While visiting Now Playing! site on Safari, touch the “+” and select “Add To Home Screen”.

Confirm of what you want to call this. The default is Now Playing!, but you are free to call it anything.

The icon to this app will be added to the home screen, and Now Playing! web app is a click away from you when you want to know what’s playing on the listed radios.

Not a complete set as 2 cards that I closed before, I have to return it back to the bank.

This is the very first credit card that I own. Yes. November 2001. The second month after I have been confirmed with my first job. I feel like adult that time, getting my very first credit card to use, not knowing the trap I’m heading to.

I pretty much able to close my other credit card, but the Citibank one is very hard to escape. They’ll do everything to keep. It’s all started with a single Citibank Clear credit card with the credit limit of RM3000. If you use this card to the max, 5% x RM3000 = RM150 – that’s what you expect to play monthly. Without me knowing, my credit limit is suddenly increased to RM5000 after a year. Young at heart, my spending on the credit card is always towards the card’s limit.

Then out of the blue, I got a call from Citibank salesperson, offering my Air Asia Credit Card. The soul of man is easily influenced, and I accepted the offer. I got RM4000 credit limit on this card, making the total credit limit from the both cards is RM9000 now. Month after month, and year after year, I got a Gold Citibank credit card in the mailbox. To activate the card (with the credit limit of RM10,000), I just need to call a single phone number.

I won’t fall for this again, and I just ignore the card. And guess what happened after that. With me knowing, the credit limit that I got from my clear credit card and Air Asia credit card is combined, and they raise the combined credit limit again. It’s like I accept the offer of gold credit card earlier. If I don’t do something, I will be trapped in this forever.

And finally, I have cleared out all the outstanding balance for my Citibank credit cards, and it’s just the time to call the customer service and terminate those before I start spending again on it.

During the call, I’ve been told that the card closing can be done by Citibank officer, of which the person will call me in 2 to 3 days time. But expect to receive a call from someone that is very good at persuading you to keep the card.

I’ve never feel privilege in the years that I’m using this card. The collection department will call and nag you every time you are late for the payment. And despite the nagging, RM25 late fee will be charge in the next bill cycle. But once you tell them that you want to close the card, suddenly, all sorts of good things come.

The officer told me that my card is free until November 2011. Since when that my card is free. I have to pay annual fee every single year. And the office also tell me, I’m eligible for cash reward. If I keep this card for 1 more month, I will get RM50 cash reward. Since I have 3 cards, that’s RM150. Hah. They are very good at this. But enough is enough. I still firm with my decision to close the card, even the officer is some sort of forcing you to stay. And for once in so many years, I have an ease of mind.

Will iPhone be revealed this time despite thw disclosure by Gizmodo, or will the new iPhone that is introduced is totally different that what is disclosed by Gizmodo? 1/2 an hour more to wait for the answer.

FarmVille is finally on iPhone.

iPhone 4 (yeah!) with front facing camera, LED flash and higher screen resolution. So the one that is leaked at Gizmodo website is indeed a real iPhone 4. Anyhow, I’m getting one!

The maximum storage, as expected, is doubled what 3GS has – 32GB.

720p HD video recording. Being a fan of HD now, this will be really handy for a quick video recording of my cats chasing each other in the house in HD.

iOS 4 – A new name for iPhone OS 4. These 2 new features are really the highlight of this new OS version for me – multitasking and folder.

Video call (finally) which is called FaceTime. Even though I never really use video call, but the advanced and high-tech phone will look crippled without one. Wifi only for now.

iPhone price? Well, this is the price for US. Malaysia price would be about the same as what 3GS is priced now. For Malaysia, we can only expect to see it in September 2010. iOS 4 can be downloaded for free starting June 21st.

Aaahh. It’s the end of WWDC 2010, and it’s 2:55am here in Malaysia. I will need that sleep now.

The flu that I had last week seemed not leaving me easily. Nose and ears are somehow connected, and I have a minor ear infection from the flu that I had. Nothing serious about that, only excess ear wax is produced until a point where it totally blocked my left ear. The result – I can hear clearly with with my right ear, but not hearing anything from left ear – and I get dizzy easily.

Went to the doctor, and she prescribed me Waxsol. I also bought this over the counter ear wax removal. And believe me that I’ve been pouring this into my ears for a half bottle already over the period of 3 days already.

But it may take a week before it showing any sign – the blockage or plugged feeling in the ear subside. I guess I have to be patient – and there goes my weekend.
