But it turned over to a hate-only relationship pretty quick.

I was a Unifi user since June 2011. I subscribed to a VIP10 package that time with a monthly payment of RM199.

Then in November 2011, I upgraded my Unifi to VIP20, resetting my contract back to 24 months.

In October 2015, TM refreshed its broadband offering with new Unifi Advance plan, and in April 2016, TM revised the price of the plan to the following

TM UniFi Advance 30Mbps – RM199/month
TM UniFi Advance 30Mbps + HyppTV Jumbo Pack – RM229/month

TM UniFi Advance 50Mbps – RM249/month
TM UniFi Advance 50Mbps + HyppTV Jumbo Pack – RM279/month

TM UniFi Advance 100Mbps – RM299/month (Normal: RM329)
TM UniFi Advance 100Mbps + HyppTV Jumbo Pack – RM329/month (Normal: RM359)

But since my condo is still using copper wire, I only able to use VDSL2 modem with the max speed of 50Mbps. The 100Mbps speed is out of choice as it is only available for houses / building connected by fibre optic cable.

One of the biggest thing that even happened to Unifi was the launch of ‘Thank You Suprise’! campaign that was launched by TM when the PH government had pushed all Internet Providers to double up their internet speed. I was selected, but due to infrastructure (my condo is still on copper wire), I’m not eligible to redeem this turbo upgrade. What a sad thing knowing that if I’m on fibre optic connection, I could get internet with the speed 10x faster that what I’m currently getting – with no change in price and contract period.

In July 2019, TM has finally made fibre optic cable available at my condo. I’m able to upgrade to fibre optic cable FOC and with no change in contract period. Since turbo upgrade option is still active in my account, I then finally can submit the request.

But you know what, this request was suddenly disappeared from my account, and calling to their customer service, they told be that the offer is no longer valid. No matter how much I argue that I’m not able to apply earlier since the infrastructure is not ready, they said they can’t do anything about it and asked me to wait for future offer (if any).

My Unifi plan at that time was Unifi Advance Plus 50Mbps for RM199 monthly. Since there is no other option, I ended up upgrading my plan to Unifi 300Mbps – the fastest speed at that time, as 500Mbps and 800Mbps plan was not available yet. With that, I have to renew my contract for nother 2 years. And this is the starting point that I hate TM so much, and how bad that I want to move away from Unifi.

Also, if you look at the bill breakdown, RM60 is being charged for a TV service that you hardly watch. And there is no way to opt out for that. Not to mention when the STB spoilt last time, upon chatting with customer service, they told me that the contract will be renewed for 2 more years if I was to get the replacement. What???!!

My quest to find an altenative internet service provider started in October 2017, where I keep visiting TIME’s website and keep registering my condo into the wish list.

Then on 18th June 2018, I’ve been forwarded with this email by TIME’s Access Planing Speciality that they have prepared Technical Proposal after the site survey at my condo, and it’s waiting for approval from my condo’s management office.

I’ve contacted MO office a few days later, and MO said that they have given the approval. I really have a very high hope for TIME Fibre Broadband to be available at my condo soon.

Then 1 year passed. Still no sign of TIME coming here. Checked with the JMB in mid 2019, and the JMB president at that time told me that the internal wiring is completed. Just waiting for my condo to be connected to to the nearest distribution point.

Then came COVID. So this was in hiatus for another 2 years. Sigh.

On a fine 13th May afternoon, on my way to the car park, I saw a bunting at the lift lobby that TIME Fibre broadband is now available at my condo, and there is a registration booth in front of management office. Without further ado, went there right away for registration. Since currently I’m using a RM199 Unifi 300Mbps plan, so it’s no brainer to get the 1Gbps plan under TIME which is also priced at RM199.

And after almost 5 years of waiting, finally, my house is connected to TIME Home Fibre Broadband. The installer said there was 2 options – to using Unifi’s existing fibre optic cable, or to pull a new fibre cable from riser room.

At first I told them to pull the new cable, since my Unifi is still active. But after a second thought, when Unifi is finally terminated, then there will be 2 fibre optic cables coming to my house which is a nuisance. Also pulling a new cable meaning drilling a new hole at my wall.

Finally I just decided to use existing fibre optic cable, and the installation is a brief one.

The 1Gbps package comes with WiFi 6 router (it’s a combination of GPON modem and router) and 1 free mesh node.

But the GUI for this router is just too simple and too limited for my use. I will be using back my exisitng Synology RT2600ac router with 3x Synology MR2200ac mesh nodes. But I will need to convert TIME’s router to bridge mode first. That will be another story for another blog post.

Sistem mini fertigasi tak setup lagi. Lagipun anak bili masih kat dulang semaian. Set mini hidroponik plak tengah nak cari meja nak letak. Nak tinggikan sket.

Beli bekas hijau tu kat MR DIY. Murah je. Pastu plastik kuning tu beli kat MPH. Kedai alat tulis selalu jual benda tu. Tak tahu nama dia apa plak.

Then, kena ada drill dan mata gergaji bulat saiz 54mm. Sebab saya pakai net pot yang bersaiz 55mm, saiz 54mm tu nampak cam sesuai dah. Lepas tebuk lubang, try letak net pot. Yes. Fits perfectly.

Beginilah rupanya bila semua lubang dah ditebuk, dan setiap lubang diletakkan net pot. Kita ketepikan dulu benda ni sebab lagi 5 hari baru kita akan pakai balik.

Next step, menyemai benih kangkung. Org cakap kalau rendah dulu senang sket dia nak bercambah.

Sementara benih kangkung tu terendam dalam air, saya sediakan pula medium untuk germinate benih kangkung tu. Untuk hidroponik, saya pakai rockwool je. Fool proof orang cakap. Ni rupa rockwool out of the package. Berabuk.

Instead of tanam sebatang je pokok kangkung per rockwool cube, saya buat lagi 2 lubang supaya leh letak 3 biji benih kangkung per rockwool.

Nanti tekan – tekan sket benih kankung tu supaya dia tenggelam sedikit.

Sebab apa nak kena tenggelamkan? Sebab nanti kita kena cover keseluruhan benih tu supaya seluruh biji benih tu dapat kelembaran. Guna penyepit yang sama, saya guris – guris rockwool tu supaya dia menutup keseluruhan benih.

Tak lupa jugak labelkan benih apa ni dah bila mula semai. Sebab lama – lama nanti mesti lupa, especially tarikh mula semai.

Saya letak penutup kat seedling tray tu supaya air tak cepat kering dan rockwool sentiasa lembab, dan letak kat green house (more like white house 😂) saya.

Hari ke-2, saya tengok benih kangkung tu dah mula germinate. Hello there. Welcome to this world.

Hari ke-5, dah hijau dan tinggi ni dah. Cepat betul. So hari ke-5 kangkung seedling ni dah boleh dah dipindahkan ke bekas hidroponik.

Mula – mula kena sediakan larutan nutrien AB dulu.

Kain tu saya potong jadi 6 bahagian supaya dia jadi strip cam ni. Tangan keras camnilah.

So kalau air semakain kering dan kita terlupa nak top up, rockwool akan sentiasa basah.

Satu takde sebab satu rockwool tu menjadi. Tak tahu apsal. Ketiga – tiga benih kangkung atas rockwool tu tak bercambah.

Sekarang kita tunggu 28 hari dan harap – harap masa tu pokok kangkung ni dah cukup besarlah untuk dituai buat kali pertama.

Penyediaan Larutan Pekat Nutrien AB Hidroponik https://blog.mohdimran.com/penyediaan-larutan-pekat-nutrien-ab-hidroponik/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/penyediaan-larutan-pekat-nutrien-ab-hidroponik/#respond Wed, 05 Dec 2018 06:20:59 +0000 https://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1705 Walaupun barang untuk projek mini Hidroponik & Fertigasi dah complete kumpul 9 hari lepas, susah plak nak cari masa utk mulakan projek ni. Sebab once dah mula, susah dah nak alih set hidroponik dan polybag berisi anak pokok kalau nak pasang karpet rumpt lepas tu.

So to get the ball rolling, jom kita bancuh Baja A dan Baja B dulu.

Kita namakan bancuhan ni sebagai Nutrien A Pekat (Concentrated Nutrient A). Alamak. Spelling error plak bagi Nutrient (tereja Nutrien) kat label tu. Nak kena fix jap lagi ni (sigh… being OCD)

And again, the spelling yang saya akan fix kejap lagi.

Finally, siaplah Concentrated Nutrient A dan Concentrated Nutrient B (and oh the spelling kat label tu).

Anyway, larutan ni takleh digunakan direct. Ia kena dicairkan dulu mengikut nisbah tertentu. More on that di penulisan yang akan datang.

Alatan Penanaman https://blog.mohdimran.com/alatan-penanaman/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/alatan-penanaman/#respond Wed, 28 Nov 2018 07:03:21 +0000 https://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1701

Lastly, this is the final part dalam journey mengumpulkan barang utk project mini hidroponik dan fertigasi yang saya dalam lama duk plan ni. Kali ni barang yang berkaitan proses penanaman.

Nama : 16″ x 16″ Polybag
Senang nak alih2 nanti kat area balkoni. Saiz 16″ x 16″ nampaknya saiz yg common orang pakai.

Nama : Bamboo Stake
Kegunaan : Lepas pindah anak pokok dalam polybag, terus pacak bamboo stake ni. Tujuannya bila pokok dah besar nanti, leh ikat batang pokok kat bamboo tu supaya dia tak repah, tetambah lagi bila dah berbuah. Dahan berat pastu angin kuat, mesti tumbang kalau tak support.

Nama : Cocopeat Block

Nama : Hydroponic Net Pot
Kegunaan : Digunakan dalam pernanaman secara hidroponik.

Nama : LECA
Kegunaan : Kalau menanam secara biasa kita gunakan tanah atau cocopeat, untuk hidroponik, kita tak nak media tanaman tu mencemari air nutrien tu (kalau pakai tanah atau cocopeat). LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) digunakan sebagai medium tanaman.

Nama : Mini Felt

Nama : Seedling Tray Label
Kegunaan : Kekadang kita semai beberapa jenis benih dalam seedling tray. Dah duk congak2 dalam kepala, barisan 1 cili, barisan 2 daun ketumbar, barisan 3 daun basil. Esok bila check, alamak, dah lupa lah cili barisan mana ek (penah terjadi kat saya). So sekarang, lepas semai je, saya terus label siap2 pakai seedling tray label nih.

Nama : Seeds
Seperti pegi Lowyat rambang mata tengok gadget, sekarang ni lalu je kat rak jual biji benih, rambang mata gak tengok. Hehe

Ini pula alatan yang saya gunakan untuk menyediakan larutan nutrisi A dan nutrisi B. Even baldi dan gayung tu dah ada kat rumah, alang2 dalam mood shopping, saya terus beli yang baru kat MR DIY.

Nama : 12L Water Barrel
Kegunaan : Menyimpan larutan pekat Nutrien A dan Nutrien B lepas dibancuh

Nama : 150ml Beaker

Nama : 3 gallon pail
Kegunaan : 3 gallon adalah bersamaan 12.36L. So sesuailah untuk larutkan baja hidroponik dalam 10L air

Nama : 5L Jug

Nama : Hydroponic Fertilizer AB
Kegunaan : Baja Hidroponik A dan Hidroponik B dah bentuk garam / kristal.

Nama : pH Down
Kegunaan : Merendahkan pH larutan nutrien AB jika terlalu tinggi.

Nama : pH Up
Kegunaan : Meninggikan pH larutan nutrien AB jika terlalu rendah.

Alatan Sistem Fertigasi Mini https://blog.mohdimran.com/alatan-sistem-fertigasi-mini/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/alatan-sistem-fertigasi-mini/#comments Wed, 28 Nov 2018 07:01:36 +0000 https://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1699

Nama : 1100 L/hour Water Pump

Nama : Dripper
Kegunaan : Digunakan bersama Capillary Tube.

Nama : Hole Saw Set

Nama : Off-Take Valve
Kegunaan : Memberhentikan atau mengawal kadar aliran air

Nama : Polypipe Puncher
Kegunaan : Menebuk lubang di polypipe

Nama : Rubber Grommet

Nama : Solar Powered Air Pump
Beli solar powered nyer sebab nak harvest renewable energy gitu selain nak jimatkan elektrik

Set Hidroponik Mini https://blog.mohdimran.com/set-hidroponik-mini/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/set-hidroponik-mini/#comments Wed, 17 Oct 2018 18:06:58 +0000 https://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1686 Lepas projek tanam cili hari tu, tiba jadi minat nak berkebun ni.

Since ruang untuk aku berkebun tu kat balkoni je (lumrah rumah highrise ni), so aku search “balcony mini hydroponic system”. So jumpalah benda ni kat Lazada.

Sebenarnya, benda ni boleh je DIY kalau rajin. Lagi seronok. Tapi aku + bertukang = disaster. Haha. So beli yg dah pasang siap jelah. Ni ha bendanya. Camtulah cara dia pos pakai PosLaju, dan as always, PosLaju duk peram sampai seminggu sebelum hantar kat rumah.

Tapi sebelum mula, still nak kena beli alat – alatan lagi ni terutamanya baja nutrisi AB. So stay tuned.

Tanam Pokok Cili https://blog.mohdimran.com/tanam-pokok-cili/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/tanam-pokok-cili/#respond Thu, 30 Aug 2018 01:41:06 +0000 https://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1664 Selalunya kat shopping mall bila lalu kat kawasan yang jual pokok berpasu, kerap sgt terpaku tgk pokok cili renek yg berbuah lebat dalam pasu. Instead of beli yg org dah tanam dan berbuah, rasanya lebih seronok kalau tanam sendiri. So aku belilah benih cili, 2 bijik pasu dan tanah. Tu cerita tahun lepas tau. Benda2 tu aku peram cukup lama kat store room.

Tak boleh jadi ni. Kena paksa gak tanam. So searchlah internet dan YouTube pasal cara2 nak tanam cili ni. Mak ai. Memang byk betul org buat video tentang step by step nak tanam cili ni. Dah tgk dan hadam steps betul2, bermulalah proses penyemaian bijik benih. Tak terfikir nak ambik gambar time tu sebab tak plan pun tulis blog pasal ni.

Seminggu selepas semai benih cili ni dalam seed pot, out of 7 bekas, bekas je nampak menjadi. Bekas keempat tu dah mati terus. Bekas kelima nampaknya daun dia maca stuck dlm seed shell.

4 hari kemudian, seed shell tu tercabut, dan tercabut terus ngan daun dia, Nevermind, I just need 2 seedlings sebab beli 2 pasu dulu.

But pokok yg dah tercabut daun tu still tak nak mengalah. 9 hari kemudian, With water and sun terkejut tengok pokok tu dah keluarkan daun. So dah anak 4 anak benih sekarang.

But then again, the next day, out of the blue, biji benih dalam one of the pot yg tak menjadi sebelum ni tiba2 bercambah. Interesting. Dah ada 5 anak benih sekarang.

So I’ll let them grow first before transfer ke bigger pot.

NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro https://blog.mohdimran.com/nvidia-shield-android-tv-pro/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/nvidia-shield-android-tv-pro/#comments Mon, 19 Sep 2016 08:47:50 +0000 http://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1586 I’ve been eyeing to get NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV for so long. And with my plan of moving from Full HD to Ultra HD / 4K, the thought of owning this that supports 4K display just getting juicier. Decided to buy from eBay instead because of the price difference of almost RM300 compared to those sold locally.

Luckily on eBay, the cheapest one that I found is from UK which is really perfect. I don’t have to worry about voltage as well as the pin of the power adapter since UK is using the exact same 3 pin plug like Malaysia. I can expect to receive my order by 23rd September. I rather wait than wasting RM300 if bought locally, which is sold out for now.

And from the RM300 saving that I made, I decided to get NVIDIA SHIELD Remote beforehand. Surprisingly, the one sold locally here is the cheapest that I found, sold for RM238 at lelong.com.my.

The nice thing about ordering from local online shop is for the next day delivery. I order this on 7th September, and the next day on 8th September, I got this in my hand already. Some of the photos from my unboxing below.

I was having a relaxing week last week since I take 3 days annual leave to get 9 days away from work (4 days of weekend + Monday and Friday public holiday). Not really going anyway, just staying at home relaxing when suddently I received a call from receptionist at my office that I got a parcel. She told me it’s quite big. It must be NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV that I ordered from eBay.

Despite from my day off, I stopped by at my office to get this parcel, all the way from UK. Damn. It’s quite heavy. I just can’t wait to get this package and the the box ripped opened. As usual, the photos from the unboxing that I did.

Blog ini dalam Bahasa Melayu https://blog.mohdimran.com/blog-ini-dalam-bahasa-melayu/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/blog-ini-dalam-bahasa-melayu/#comments Tue, 30 Aug 2016 03:52:12 +0000 http://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1554 Aku mula menulis blog pada zaman aku mula2 kerja dulu. So time tu, aku memang selalu carik lubang untuk dapatkan duit lebih. So salah satu cara letak Google Adsense kat blog. Target ready dari all over the globe gitu.

Tapi blogging era nih dah makin dying dah. Aku pun dah tak letak Google Adsense kat blog aku dah. So rasanya nak mula menulis blog dalam Bahasa Melayu plak – takdelah perfect Bahasa Melayu. Aku akan guna bahasa rojak.

Sebenarnya letih nak menulis dlm English ni. Mula2 kena susun atur ayat dalam kepala. Baru start tulis. Lepas tulis, kena proof reading plak tgk grammer. Menulis dalam Bahasa Melayu plak, texts flow freely through my fingers while I’m thinking of it.

So behold my first blog yang ditulis dalam bahasa rojak. As always, semoga aku terus menulis, even takde sapa yang nak baca pun. Haha

I have to admit that this blog entry is by far the hardest to write. I’m forcing myself to finish up this post that I have kept in the draft folder for so long. I’ve been delaying to blog about this for quite some times, and it takes many cycles for me to finish up this entry as I got too emotional along the way, and can’t continue.

9th February 2015:
It was a fine second week of February 2015. I was so happy that I just got back from my little trip to Hatyai. I was so happy to finally see my Oyen again after 3 days away from home. And he was so happy too to finally got his litter changed.

11th February 2015:
Over the next 2 days, I noticed that he is straining again at the litter box. I thought Oyen was having another constipation, and gave him laxative. But I started to notice some urine mixed with blood on the floor throughout the house. Carefully monitoring all of my cats, it turned out that it was Oyen that having difficulty urinating. Brought him to vet immediately.

Oyen’s bladder seems to be bloated with stuck urine. The doctor gave it a squeeze and the urine indeed mixed with blood.

This condition may be the result of kidney stone, which we hope not. Quickly checking the urine composition, the pH is 6, which is acidic. This is a good sign since in the case of kidney stone, the urine will be alkalic. Also, there is a high count of white blood cell in the urine which indicates infection in the bladder. The urethra may have been swollen that obstructs the urine to be passed out normally.

Luckily there is a specific medicine for bladder infection, but the bladder needs to be flushed out regularly. So the doctor placed a catheter into the urethra. Distilled water will be injected via the tube into the bladder, and then it will be passed out via the tube too.

14th February 2015:
Since Oyen is too stressful with the catheter attached to the urethra, I decided to bring him home, since the next treatment will be in the next 4 days. At the clinic also, Oyen will be caged, and that’s not good for him. Well, he seems so stressful.

16th February 2015:
My house is a total mess, since the urine will keep dripping from the catheter. I have to monitor the urine daily until it’s clear again. Looks like he is progressing well. His urine is almost clear now, with just still a little trace of blood.

16th February 2015:
It’s the day that I’m waiting for where I will be bring Oyen for the follow up treatment. The doctor gave a final flush, and he is discharged on the same day. Yay!

Back home, the first thing that he did is to go to the litter box. I’m so happy to see that Oyen is finally able to pass out the urine normally again.

21st February 2015:
Oyen seems to be getting better now. The fur around the genital area is yet to grow. But in all that, I still have worries as Oyen doesn’t seem as active as last time.

And he is spending more time sitting and sleeping next to me on my bed, instead of being on his cat bed that I placed next to me.

Day after day, he looks weaker. One day, I noticed that he no longer can jump onto my computer table – of which his favourite place to be while I’m in my study room. It came to a point where I have to pick him up, and place him on my computer table.

16th April 2015:
Oyen’s condition is getting worse. He’s having severe constipation again, he lost tremendous amount of weight, and he can now hardly move as there’s something wrong with his back leg, to a point that he has to drag his back feet while moving. I decided to bring him to vet.

Same like last time, Oyen will be put under general anaesthetic, and evacuation of feces will be taken.

Since the clinic will be closed tomorrow on Friday, I will come back on Saturday to bring Oyen back home.

18th April 2015:
Woke up a bit late today. I guess I will be having late breakfast cum lunch today while stopping by at the vet to pick up Oyen. Will be going there with my housemate. Waiting for him to be back from Negeri Sembilan as he had a company outing there, but will be back to KL soon.

Suddenly, I received a call from my housemate and with a trembling voice, he said that the clinic called and said that Oyen is gone. I just got numbed that time. I didn’t say anything. I don’t felt anything. We head is empty. I hang up the phone, and keep walking from my room, to the kitchen, to the balcony, to my room again, to the kitchen again and to balcony again. Suddenly, it felt that it’s so hard to breathe. I keep walking aimlessly in my house and suddenly, I felt something warm coming through my eyes.

Then I keep thinking, well, I woke up this morning feeling happy that I finally get to bring Oyen back home. He will be back home today. He will right? I’m in denial. Oyen is still around. The vet must get it wrong. He probably tired and still sleeping.

I just don’t remember anything after that, I can’t think straight anymore. My housemate finally came back home and we rushed to the clinic before it closes for the day. Turned out that Oyen has passes away since yesterday. But since the clinic was closed yesterday, the clinic just called my housemate today to inform about that.

Oyen seemed to be having Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) – a viral disease of cats caused by certain strains of a virus called the feline coronavirus. The test came back positive and all this while, Oyen has been showing the symptoms.

Although Oyen has been looking ill for a while, until his death I don’t know that I’m dealing with incurable FIP virus infection. I just thought that he had another severe constipation problem as in the past. But FIP is indeed a silent killer, and you won’t know about it until it’s too late.

We finally managed to claim Oyen’s body. Luckily there’s a secluded open area behind my condo where I can bury Oyen’s body. This is one of the hardest and painful thing that I ever do in my life. Tears kept falling from my eyes seeing Oyen cold and lifeless body bit by bit disappeared as I buried him.

For some, they just think that it is just a cat. Get a new one and move on. But for me, the grief felt after the loss of pet can be every bit as painful as following the death of a human. And in Oyen’s case, I’ve never been so close and so attached to any other cat before than him.

Throughout his life, Oyen seems to be fond of cat grass. He could munch that like eating fish. This is for you Oyen – your favorite cat grass on your grave.

DJI Phantom 4 – Kampung Lemal, Pasir Mas, Kelantan dari udara https://blog.mohdimran.com/dji-phantom-4-kampung-lemal-pasir-mas-kelantan-dari-udara/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/dji-phantom-4-kampung-lemal-pasir-mas-kelantan-dari-udara/#comments Sat, 02 Jul 2016 01:53:09 +0000 http://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1552 First time bawak DJI Phantom 4 balik kampung sempena cuti raya. One of the thing that keeps playing in my mind masa beli Phantom 4 hari tu adalah nak tgk how my kampung looks like from the air.

My sis ada buat rumah belakang rumah my mum, and rumah baru dia tu, we can go to the roof top. So the first time I’ve been to the roof top, which her house is the tallest among all other houses kat kampung, the view looks incredible. The view is something that I have never seen from my eye level before. So I imagine, if I’m able to go higher, the view will be more breath taking right?

Today is one fine morning. So I brought the drone to the back of my mum houses, and starts flying. So here are some of the footages that I managed to put together. As I expected, the view of my kampung from the air is quite breathtaking. I guess sebab sungai tu that gives it a very mesmerizing look.

“Balik Kampung” for Aidilfitri 1436H/2015M https://blog.mohdimran.com/balik-kampung-for-aidilfitri-1436h2015m/ https://blog.mohdimran.com/balik-kampung-for-aidilfitri-1436h2015m/#comments Sun, 12 Jul 2015 06:00:16 +0000 http://blog.mohdimran.com/?p=1514 This is kinda a must post entry to be made each year as we are reaching the end of Ramadhan. Same as the year before, it won’t be complete for some Raya cookies shopping for my mum.

I was browsing through some Raya cookies at Jusco, and have selected some into the trolley. While continuing with selecting for more, one of the staff there said that she would like to give some suggestions. She said why not check at Carrefour (which just happened to be a few steps away) as she said that she heard someone talking about 40% discounts on all raya cookies there.

Then I thought, why not? Let shop around first before I made the final purchase. Upon reaching Carrefour, there is indeed 40% discount on all Raya cookies there. Taking out the calculator, the price is ranging from as cheap as RM4.30 to RM6.50. What a bargain I must say.

I am already putting aside RM100 as the budget for Raya cookies shopping this year. But with this price, I manage to get 15 Raya cookies with the total bill of RM89. I’m walking out of the Carrefour with a big smile.

One last thing to settle before I’m going back for holiday is “duit raya”. Starting 2013, banks started recycling old notes for those who which to exchange for fresh and crispy notes to be given as “duit raya”. I have to admin that the tradition is not good for the environment, but the tradition has been around since I was a kid.

Furthermore, with Ringgit Malaysia plummeting, I don’t think Bank Negara wishes to print excessive banknotes.

And lastly, collecting colorful Raya envelopes is part of the fun too. These are those that I managed to collect this year.
