Oyen meeting vet

Allright. Going to bring Oyen to vet today for vaccination. It’s been 2 weeks since Oyen first visit vet for his diarrhea problem. Nothing serious before. He just has an upset stomach from eating dried anchovies that he found in my kitchen.

Basically, I have visitors last night. Zaif and Lego spend a night at my house last night before they heading back to Zaif’s hometown. So Oyen gets kinda excited and didn’t really sleep last night.

So this morning, kinda pity that I have to wake him up to go to the clinic before it closed. It’s rather nice that when I put him inside the pet carrier, he just sit quitely in there, and he also just sit there quitely at the back car seat throughout the jurney to the clinic.

So here I am at last, in front of Anicare Veterinary Clinic, not very far from Wangsa Maju Carrefour.

Once I got there, there are 3 more cats already waiting to see the vet. So I guess Oyen has to wait for a while. And he got bored and anxious since being kept in captive for quite a long period.

Finally, it is Oyen’s turn to see the vet. He then became grumpy and making a loud hiss after the doctor tried to push a thermometer into his ass. I guess it’s a sign of Oyen telling “what you think you’re doing doc”. Then the doctor said, it’s ok. Don’t need to take the temperature since Oyen seems to be healthy.

The doctor did explain of various vaccination that available for cat. And since Oyen is housecat and didn’t actually go out and mingle with other cat, a certain type of vacciation is not necessary.

It’s kinda pity that I didn’t have chance to take photo of Oyen got injected with vaccine since I have to hold him when the doctor giving the injection. Anyway, Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia-Chlamydia Psittaci vaccine was given to Oyen.

Felocell 4 is for vaccination of healthy cats as an aid in preventing feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR) caused by feline herpesvirus-1, feline respiratory disease caused by feline calicivirus (FCV), feline panleukopenia (FPL) caused by feline parvovirus, and feline chlamydiosis caused by Chlamydia psittaci. Felocell 4 contains attenuated strains of feline rhinotracheitis virus, calicivirus, and panleukopenia virus (Johnson Snow Leopard strain), and C. psittaci, propagated on established cell lines. Felocell 4 is packaged in freeze-dried form with inert gas in place of vacuum.

And this is Oyen’s condition at the moment (photo taken about 1/2 an hour ago). I guess his body now reacting to the vaccine given by creating an antibody. It really look that he’s not feeling very well at the moment.

And this is something from the website again – the following reactions are fairly common, usually start within hours to several days after vaccination, and last no more than several days

• discomfort at the site where the vaccine was given
• mild fever
• diminished appetite and activity
• sneezing at about four to seven days after administration of an intranasal vaccine
• development of a small, firm, non-painful swelling under the skin at the site where the vaccine was given. The swelling usually goes away after several weeks

You see, before how I wish Oyen to be a good cat by not running and jumping all over the house or biting my hand while I stroke him or unexpectedly pouncing on my feet while I walk.

But looking at him now, how I miss his playful moment at night. To Oyen, get well soon ok. This is just temporarily while your body producing necessary antibody.
