Buying 2 more aquarium books

Happened to visit Times Squuare last weekend, and while waiting for the movie to start, I went to Borders bookstore which is just nearby, and browse the aquarium related books that they have.

After the movie, I went back there, and bought 2 new books to accompany yhe book that I bought last time.

The first book that I bought is this “The Aquarium Fish Handbook”.

I found this book is very interesting for the following reason.

It actually shows the ease of keeping. So I wouldn’t go to the one rated 5 or more here. Also it tells the fish compatibility, whether it should be single specimen in the aquarium, and whether it is a community fish or safe with small fish. Also it tells me the strata, whether top, middle or bottom feeder. And lastly, what feeding needs it has – herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. I use this info a lot to determine fish that I can mix with my existing fishes.

And the second book that bought is Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants.

This book is quite good if you plan to have well planted aquarium. What substrate you should use, how to plant, how much light needed etc.
