Fitbit Zip

I have been using MyFitnessPal app heavily now. Since I have stopped doing Atkins diet now and moving to calories diet, I will need to closely monitor my calories consumption on the daily basis. The food database on MyFitnessPal is the most complete now. You can even find “nasi lemak”, “mee bandung” and even “cendol” there.

One of the thing that is tightly integrated into MyFitnessPal app is Steps counter. Many fitness blogs have suggested to walk at least 10,000 steps daily. It’s nice that iPhone has a built in motion sensor that can be used for counting steps.

But after few days, I noticed that the number of steps reported are not that accurate. For example, when walking, I sometimes will hold my iPhone and browse something on it. Sometimes in this position, my steps are not detected. I’m thinking of getting a proper steps counter device. MyFitnessPal app does suggests a few well known steps tracking devices.

I ended up getting myself Fitbit Zip from RadioShack. It’s quite small and I just need to flip it to my jeans, and I’m all set. I didn’t fancy wrist band type one since I already have a preferred watch that I would like to wear.

There is an iOS app for Fitbit trackers. This is how it looks like when I have completed my 10,000 steps for the day. This value will sync automatically with MyFitnessPal app.
